Hello,

I´m planning a 16 days trip on Japan with my husband.
My intention is to arrive in Narita Airport (day 1) and go to Tokyo city, spend there 4 days( day 1, 2, 3, 4) using metro and buses. Go to Nikko and stay 1 night (day 4-5), then, to Hakone and 2 more nights (day 5-7).
From there we go to Matsumoto (day 7-8) and next stay in Nagoya 2 nights (8-10).
On day 10-12 we stay in Kyoto, and then 1 night in Nara (day 12-13).
At last we spend the days 13-16 in Osaka with a side trip to Kobe
The day 16 is to go to Itami or Kansai Airports.

Can someone help me?
If I'm going to Hakone, Matsumoto and Nagoya, i'll need to buy the passes for that cities, but is it the best to buy JPRail Pass anyway?

Hi there,

Looking at your travel plan, a JR Pass would not help you make savings here. I think just buying the tickets as you travel makes the most sense, you can look at local passes to make some savings along the way. Think of a Hakone Free Pass, Nikko Heritage Pass and a Kansai Area Pass.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you so much Daniel.

Considering that we are going to spend about 7 days strait in Kansai Area, we'll need 2 Kansai area pass (for 4 days) each.
Is that right? Total 102 € (each).
