Hi,

Me and my wife are planning to go to Japan next year, around late March. Planning to stay in Tokyo for 3 nights and move to Osaka and stay for 4 nights. I can purchase a 7 day Japan Rail Pass to travel from Tokyo to Osaka and also, while in Osaka can I use my 7 Japan Rail Pass to visit Kobe, Kyoto and Hiroshima or I have to purchase a Japan rail west pass?

While in Tokyo, what can you suggest where can we travel using the the Japan Rail Pass which will just a day trip using the train?

Hi Victor,

The JR Pass covers all JR lines in Japan, this means that you can use to pass to Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe but also all the way down to Hiroshima.

The JR Pass is also valid for local trains in Tokyo. I would recommend making a day trip from Tokyo with the JR Pass. A great option is a visit to Nikko which is really well suited for a day trip from Tokyo. Other options include Yokohama (China Town), Kamakura or the historic village of Kawagoe.
