Hello,

I finally got my JR PASS and i wanted to finalize a few details.
After reviewing the Tokyo Map, i noticed that there are only 2 lines that are name JR:

JR YamanotE
& JR Line

I wanted to know if there are any other lines where the JR PASS will be applicable like the Asakusa line, Marunouchi Line ect.?

Thank you very much,

Robert

Hi,
Subway lines like you mention are not covered under the JR Pass. The Yamanote Line does go to several good tourist places, and if you have a pass you can use it in Tokyo. If you want to use the subways though there is a good 2 or 3 day subway pass. The 1 day subway pass though is almost impossible to justify.

Good Luck.

Hi Robert,

There are many lines in Tokyo by different and this can be rather confusing.

The JR Pass covers the urban JR Network in Tokyo, such as the JR Yamanote line, Chuo line and Tokaido line.

Other travel, like the Tokyo Metro is not included (such as the Asakusa and Ginza lines). The JR Pass can be used to see the larger part of Tokyo but you may still need to use other transport from time to time.

It can be helpful to familiarize yourself with the JR Network beforehand. A railway map of greater Tokyo can be found here.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
