I will arrive in Hanenda at 0800 and activate my 7-day pass approx 1000 day 1 (take the monorail in to Tokyo). The last day (day 7) I will go from Nagano to Tokyo. Do I have to take a early train so I arrive in Tokyo before 1000 (take the 0800-train) or do I just have to take a train that leaves Nagano before 1000 (take och the 0930-train).

Hi there,
You don't have to worry about getting there before 10:00 - the JR Pass will be valid until 00:00 of the last day regardless of when you activated it.
