If I purchased a JR pass on Mar 7, 2026, what’s the latest date for me to pick it up and start using it? Will it expire?
If I have to cancel the trip, can I return the JR pass at no cost? What’s the latest date for me to return at no cost?

Hi there,
If your ticket was issued on 7 March, the final start date for your JR Pass is 5 July 2026. You’ll need to exchange your ticket in Japan within three months of the issue date, and you can choose an activation date up to one month ahead of time.
