Travelling between Tokyo, Kanazawa, and Hakuba (Nagano)

Konnichiwa,
I have a family of 4 travelling to Japan arriving Dec 19 to Jan 1st. We are planning to travel on these dates to the following places:
Dec 19 -  Narita Airport to Tokyo
Dec 20 -  Tokyo to Kanazawa
Dec 23 -  Kanazawa to Hakuba Valley
Dec 27 -  Hakuba Valley to Kanazawa

1) What would be the best rail pass to purchase?  And do I need to buy this pass before I arrive in Japan? 

2) It's getting close to our departure date and I'm worried I won't get it before I leave the US for Japan.  Can passes be delivered to our hotel in Tokyo?

3) Since we are staying for 14 days and this pass is for only for 7 days, would it be much cheaper to purchase individual tickets for each trip? Dec 27 would be the 8th day, if we activated it on Dec 20th.  Can I purchase one-way-trip train tickets from Hakuba to Tokyo?

I apologize for the many questions. Any guidance would be very helpful and appreciated.

Hello Jenn Edrosa,

1.) I checked but could not find a pass that would help you make savings here. My advice is to just buy individual tickets as you travel. If you want to save a bit on transport, look at a highway bus from Tokyo to Kanazawa instead. Though this does take more time.

2.) We could do so, yes.

3.) I think this is already answered but yes, that would also be possible.
