Hi, I'll be travelling with my parents and sister (family of 4). I arrive in Tokyo and plan to head to Osaka (3 days) then to Kyoto (day trip) then back to Tokyo (5 nights). Is it worthwhile to get a JR Pass? If not, which would be the most cost saving option as I'm aware that Japan does have a couple of discounted passes.

Hi there,

The price of a 7-day JRPass is about the same price as a return Tokyo Osaka by Shinkansen.
Any extra travel you may do after is what you save. For instance if you can use to travel to Osaka and to and from the Airport, than you will be sure to make some good savings.
