Please can you let me know if the use of the Kinku bus from Takamatsu airport to Kotohira is part of the JR rail pass in Shikoku.

This bus is not covered by the JR Pass or part of the JR Network.

I am trying to plan getting from Takamatsu airport towards Oboke without going into Takamatsu. We arrive after 4pm. You seem very familiar with the rail network, so do o you think it possible to get from the airport by JR train into the city and then out towards Kotohio/Oboke before nightfall? We are headed towards the Iya Valley.
