If I have the ordinary JR and want to use the green car from Tokyo to Kyoto how much would be the extra charge?

Hi there,
In order to upgrade to the green car for the Tokyo-Kyoto shinkansen you would need to pay the green seat charge of ¥9880. The JR Pass would cover the basic line fare of ¥7980.
Please note that only 1 Hikari bullet per hour (operated by JR-Central) has a green car. The other Hikari service is operated by JR-West and does not have a green car.
