Checking whether I need a Japan Rail Pass

Yes a 7 day JR Pass is certainly worth considering. The pass is about the same price as a normal return ticket Tokyo - Kyoto using the Shinkansen. You'll be making the same trip, because Nagoya is directly on the route between Tokyo - Kyoto. Traveling a route with different stops usually becomes more expansive, as tickets are required for each leg. With the JR Pass you can just take any train you like without worrying about the cost.

In addition you may use the JR Pass for local train on the JR in Tokyo and a limited extend in Kyoto.

Unfortunately not directly. The fastest way is to take the Shinkansen from Tokyo - Nagoya station and from there the Meitetsu. See this page, for how to travel between Nagoya and Chubu Airport. This cost together will be around 12,000yen.
