Hello, dear!
Can you please help me to understend do I neer Pass for 7 or 14 or more days.
So me and my boyfrend are planing to be in Japan for 25 days.
1. exploring Tokyo area for 8 days (would JR Pass be usefull here?)
2. trip to stay near Mt. Fuji (can we use JR Pass for it?)
3. trip to Kyoto across Hamamatsu (here we can definitely use JR Pass, right?)
4. exploring Kyoto and Osaka (would JR Pass be usefull here?)
5. One day trip to Miyazu (can we use JR Pass for it?)
6. trip to Fukuoka (here we can definitely use JR Pass, right?)
After 18 days here we will go to Okinawa, so qwestion is - should we take Pass from a beginning in Tokyou or befor trip to Hamamatsu and Kyouto?

Hi there,

1.) The JR Pass covers the local JR Network in Tokyo. While travel around Tokyo does not cost a lot on its own, a JR Pass can be used here.

2.) For Fuji see: http://www.jrpass.com/blogs/itinerary-tip-mt-fuji

3.) Yes

4.) Local JR lines can be used but other transport is not included. It is likely that you'll need to use additional transport too.

5.) Yes

6.) Correct :)

A JR Pass is best used for longer travel routes and you would not really need one for exploring Tokyo. I think the best option would be to get one when you travel to Kyoto.

Oh god thank you so much!

So JR Pass is not so necessary for trip to Mt. Fuji, right?

And how would we use it:
1. When we go somewhere how can we know that we can use it on that train?
Is it like special schedule for that trains?
2. How can we book a seat?
