Hello there, I plan for a week trip to Japan, starting from Osaka > Kyoto > Tokyo.
I was wondering if is it worth to purchase a JR pass, since I'm on a tight budget.
If possible I do want to try Shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo once.
Osaka > Kyoto > Tokyo
Hi there,
Will you be flying out from Tokyo? In that case I advise purchasing normal train tickets. The 7 day JR Pass is worth considering if you also return from Tokyo to Kyoto/Osaka.
The JR Pass does cover the route from Kyoto - Tokyo using the Shinkansen.
Does that help?
Daniel
Yes, I'll fly out from Tokyo.
Thank you, I just checked distance from Tokyo > Narita and it seems quite a lengthy ride. I'll keep that in mind.
I'll be living in each place respectively so I think I wont commute from Tokyo to Osaka/Kyoto.
The Shinkansen from Kyoto to Tokyo costs around 13,800 yen, and the JR pass is 28,000(?) yen, is it possible to use around 15,000 yen in commuting to-and-fro in all 3 cities for a week?
Hi again!
Not unless you will do a ton of commuting. A local ride costs around 200yen, so count the amount of travel you would have to do :)
