Hi there,
Yes, I would definitely recommend purchasing a JR Pass, especially if you can fit most of your train travel into a 7 or 14 day period (mostly the trips to Hiroshima/Nagasaki as these are likely to be the most expensive). You'd be entirely travelling via Shinkansen so it's likely it'd be your most cost-effective option.
