We will be in Japan from 1st Apr to 21st Apr.
Planned itinerary while in Japan
Arrives Narita airport 1st Apr and staying in Tokyo for 6 nights- 1st Apr to 7th Apr
Then to Yudanada Onsen for a night - 7th Apr to 8th Apr
Then to Takayama for 2 nights. May hire a car to see the surrounding area- 8th Apr to 10th Apr.
From Takayama, proceed to Hiroshima-Miyajima island for 2 nights- 10th Apr to 12th Apr
Then from Hiroshima to Osaka for 5 days. Using Osaka as the base, day trips to Nara and Kyoto- 12th Apr to 17th Apr
From Osaka to Kinosaki for 2 days- 17th Apr to 19th Apr
Kinosaki to Mt Fuji (Hakone?) for a night - 19th Apr to 20th Apr
Mt Fuji to Tokyo for 1 night - 20th Apr-21th Apr
21th Apr leaves Tokyo for Narita departure.
Is the 21 day JR pass the way to go for this itinerary?

Hello there,
Here's a quick overview of normal ticket prices.
Tokyo - Nagano ¥ 8,200 (travel from Nagano - Yudanaka not covered by JR)
Nagano - Takayama ¥ 12,600
Takayama - Hiroshima ¥ 17,300
Hiroshima - Osaka ¥ 10,440
Osaka - Kinosaki ¥ 5,600
Kinosaki - Hakone (Odawara station for make for the best routing) ¥ 15,470
Odawara - Tokyo ¥ 3,740
Tokyo - Narita Airport ¥ 3,020
For a total of ¥ 76,370 a 21 day JR Pass is ¥ 59,350, so you'll make great savings. Possibly you could also use a 14 day JR Pass instead from day 7, this would also allow you to cover all - otherwise expansive - travel and may be a more budget friendly option.
