Hallo Daniel,
I plan to visit to Japan in April for 7 days and will arrive in Haneda Airport-Tokyo and will be out from Itami Airpot-Osaka.
Here is my plan:
Day 1-3: explore Tokyo area
Day 3-7: Osaka and Kyoto
What pass should I purchase?

Hi Laura,
In this case I would just buy a one way rail ticket Tokyo - Osaka, as it would cost less than a pass. A JR Pass would have been good if you had at least made a return Tokyo - Osaka/Kyoto.
You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.
