Looking for ticket on bullet from Tokyo to Kyoto and return next day.
Do I need to book in advance.

Hi there,
The exact cost depends on what train you travel on and what date/time. Reserving a seat on the Shinkansen generally costs 500yen - 1.000yen in addition to the normal fare and is depending on the low/high season. Seat reservations are always free with the Japan Rail Pass.
In case you miss the train that you reserved seats for, then you can take the next train but only use a non-reserved seat and may have to stand if all non-reserved seats are taken.
