Should I buy JR Pass

Hi there,
I am not sure if I should buy a JR Pass for my 8 days trip to Japan in early July. I will be arriving in Osaka and staying at Namba area for the first 3 days(mainly shopping), then 2 days in Kyoto for sightseeing and then 3 days in Tokyo( may spend half day at Yokohama), departing at Narita Airport.
I will only make a long distance Bullet train from Kyoto to Tokyo so not quite sure if it's worthwhile to buy the 7 days jr pass?
Can I buy the nex + suica card from any of the Tokyo train/metro station the day I arrive at Tokyo?

Hi Sandy,

A 7-day JR Pass is just about the same price as a return Tokyo - Osaka by bullet train, everything you travel after, is actually what you save. I would suggest buying normal tickets in your case, as you only go one way with in a addition to some local travel around Kansai and Tokyo.

The N'ex + Suica package can only be bought at Narita Airport, instead you could look into buying an all day metro pass, which can offer some really good value too!

Do I need to book in advance for the one way journey from Kyoto to Tokyo or just simply buy when I leave?
Does the all day metro pass in Tokyo cover most of the network?

Good morning from Europe,

Trains between Kyoto - Tokyo leave every 10-15 minutes, so there's not need to buy a ticket long in advance. I would buy it the moment you plan to travel.

The Metro Ticket includes all metro lines in Tokyo. Here's a coverage map.
