Hi there,

1.) A JR Pass is not worth it for only a return trip Tokyo - Hakuba - perhaps if you added more travel!

2.) Yes, there are a couple of direct trains directly from Shinjuku (JR), to Hakuba.

3.) The bus to Hakuba is not covered by the JR Pass.

7 days Osaka-Tokyo Hokuriku Arch Pass
1. can my staring point in Tokyo or I need to begin in Osaka? (friend told me that I need to travel from Osaka.)
2. can I purchase Jrpass in advance? (traveling in Dec )
3. can I use Jrpass in Tokyo if I end my trip on the 6 day?

1.) You can start in either direct, or anywhere on the route where the pass is valid.

2.) Yes

3.) Yes, on the local JR network, like the JR Yamanote line but likely not on stations outside central Tokyo.
