Just querying what is the best pass to buy for a 17 day trip at Christmas. The plan is to go from Narita to Hakuba, then to Kyoto, Hiroshima and back to Tokyo for 5 days. Appreciate your help to determine the most cost effective approach. Thanks.

Hi there,
Here's a quick list of normal ticket prices you would pay without the JR Pass.
Narita Airport - Hakuba ¥ 13,830
Hakuba - Kyoto ¥ 12,340
Kyoto - Hiroshima ¥ 10,890
Hiroshima - Tokyo ¥ 18,360
For a total of ¥ 55,420 or ¥ 9,030 in savings as the 14 day JR Pass is ¥ 46,390. The JR Pass is also valid for local travel in Tokyo, adding even more for your savings.
