Hi there,
In general the JR Pass will cover all JR lines without additional cost.
Is there any charge in particular you are worried about?

that's a good questions.. to reserve seats on the shinkansen, is there any additional charge? and how does one book a trip with the shinkansen for a specific day and hour with the JR pass?

Hi again!
Seat reservation are free of charge with the Japan Rail Pass and good they are as normal charges can be as high as a 1,000yen per ticket.
