Is it possible to get just one part of the rail pass eg, Hiroshima to Japan, upgraded to first class?

Hi there,
It is possible but the upgrade fare is quite high. You'd have to pay the ltd. express and Green Car fares.

Hi there,
We are leaving Hiroshima to Tokyo on the 9th April about 7-8am. If we upgraded our JR pass to first class just for this part , how much would it cost?

It would cost 14,030yen, this is already more than upgrading your JR Pass for 7 days for ordinary to first class.
