Hi Carla,
Aomori is not included in the Hokkaido Rail Pass :( You could go as far as Hakodate, using the Hokkaido Rail Pass.
Alternatively, a JR Pass would include this part and may be worth considering if you have other travel planned.

Thanks for your reply. A JR Pass isn’t worth it, we will be traveling by car most of the time.
