Is Shin Osaka easy to navigate for JR Rail Pass 'neebies'? We are planning a journey from Hiroshima to Kyoto Station. We will have JR Rail Pass reserved seats. One route arrives Shin Osaka on Track 24. Depart Track 5 twelve minutes later. Is this enough time for newbies? What if we miss the train? Its due to depart at 19:20. Can we get new tickets for next train at that time?
Worried we could get stranded!

Yes, that is plenty of time. The key to getting your transfer done easy is to follow the sign with the right track numbers.
The transfer area for Shinkansen at Shin-Osaka station is fairly small and can be done in as little as 5 minutes.
and Yes, the JR Pass will always allow you to take the next train for free - though you could lose your seat reservations.

Thanks Daniel. This is very helpful. If we missed the train for which we have reservations. Will we need to buy tickets from JR Ticket desk or can we pay for tickets on the next train?

You can either take a non-reserved seat in the next train, or go back to the ticket office and get a reservations for the next :)
