What JR Pass to buy?

Hi there

I don't know whether a JR Pass would be cost effective for us... or which one to buy (7 vs 14 day). I will also be quite pregnant whilst we are travelling, so is the Green Pass more beneficial for me?

This is our itinerary:

4 Sep - Arrive Tokyo at 11pm (Need travel from Haneda Airport to City)
5 Sep - Tokyo - Kyoto
6 Sep - Kyoto
7 Sep - Kyoto (Nara day trip)
8 Sep - Kyoto
9 Sep - Kyoto - Hiroshima
10 Sep - Hiroshima - Miyajima
11 Sep - Miyajima - Osaka
12 Sep - Osaka
13 Sep - Osaka
14 Sep - Tokyo
15 Sep - Tokyo (Kawaguchiko day trip)
16 Sep - Tokyo
17 Sep - Tokyo
18 Sep - Depart Tokyo (Need transport from City to Haneda Airport)

Hi there,

The main reason to consider travelling in Green Class is that it offers more space, comfort and quiet. Especially the last reason is why I personally love travelling in Green Class - its a good way to skip the travelling crowd - and all together just a much more relaxed experience. Given your pregnancy, I think that this would certainly benefit you.

As for the JR Pass, the 14 day JR Pass is the best option by far. Your long distance travel is spread out over a period longer than 7 days. The 14 day JR Pass is about the same price as normal tickets on the Shinkansen for the route Tokyo - Kyoto - Hiroshima - Osaka - Tokyo. Basically any additional travel what you do is free - and given that you have 14 days - means that you certainly can make the most of the pass!

Also nice to know may be that you can use the JR Pass for travel on the Tokyo Monorail to Haneda Airport.
