For Tokyo to Osaka & back in 2/3 days, is Japan Rail Pass the correct choice. Can I have problem re registration?
Neeed to reach Osaka in the morning & again to Tokyo as ealy as possible in morning - hence night trains are suitable.

Hi there,

A ticketed return bullet trip to Osaka from Tokyo will cost ¥27,900. This is ¥400 less than the 7 day Japan Rail Pass. As such I recommend the 7 day pass for much more travel flexibility.

There are some night trains which will also service this route overnight. I recommend researching the Sunrise Seto and Sunrise Izumo, both of which have free basic accommodation (carpeted area + sheets) for JR Pass holders.
