Hi,
The nearest station to me would be JR Akabane Station. From there, what is the most economical way using JR pass to reach there? Please advise on the JR train route.
Please let me know the anticipated travelling time.
Thank you!

Hello there,
There are different areas and approaches available for visiting Fuji-san. Have you oriented yourself yet what you wish to see/do around Fuji? I can give you the best route if you let me know what your plan is.
Also see the Wikitravel page for more information.
Hope this helps,
Daniel
Hi,
I don't intend to climb it. Just wanted to get a good view of it from a distance to get some photos. And maybe do some shopping and other sight seeing area nearby. Plan to spend half a day at around the area.
Hello again,
In that case you've got different option to visit Fuji, the more popular include Hakone, Fuji Five Lakes and Gotemba.
Kawaguchiko is the first of the Fuji Five Lakes and easy to access from Tokyo. Perhaps that would be a good place to visit. Here is more on how to access the Area.
Hi
With the help of Daniel-san, did a great trip.
We visited Mount Fuji. We take the JR train at Shinjuku (with the JR pass) to Atsuki. Atsuki to take a local train to Kawaguchiko, where we could do the tours on the lake. If you want to go to the fifth station, buy the bus tickets in Atsuki station. The bus leaves the left side in front of station. In this case, half day is not enough.
