Takayama to Ebisu Tokyo

Hello,

My original plan on Friday, July 3rd was to take the 11:24 am train, arriving at 4:53pm but I'm unable to find that route schedule on Hyperdia now. Maybe there has been a change in schedule.

So now, I am thinking of taking this train route from Takayama to Ebisu (Tokyo).
11:00 am Depart Takayama - LTD. EXP Hida 3; Arrive Toyama 12:26pm
12:58 Depart Toyama - Shinkansen Hakutaka 564; Arrive Omiya (Saitama) 15:02pm
15:12 Depart Omiya (Saitama) - JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line (via Utsunomiya Line); Arrive Shinjuku (JR) 15:44
15:45 Depart Shinjuku (JR) - JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line (via Yokosuka Line)
15:52 Arrive Ebisu(Tokyo)

My confusion is the JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line. After I board at Omiya (Saitama) do I stay on the train until I get to Ebisu(Tokyo) or get off at Shinjuku and board a different train? Also, will the JR Pass work for all transfers?

Hi Sharon,

I looked up the route and can confirm that you can stay on the same line. The double arrow in Hyperdia means the train will continue.

Thank you, Daniel. Off topic, is there a Midori no Madoguchi at Hiroshima Station? If time permits, I may want to make a day trip reservation from Hiroshima to Himeji. I didn't want to reserve early in case we're not able to make this excursion.

Hi Sharom,

Yes (nearly) every station has a Midori no Madoguchi.

You can always take a non reserved seat if you are in a hurry but just going to the platform and showing the JR Pass.
