Should I get JR pass for this itinerary

Hi! I will be traveling direct to hokkaido this December (3 adults and 3 children - 7, 5 and 3 year olds). Will jr pass be worthwhile if this is our itinerary:
Day 1) new chitose to sapporo
Day 2) shiroi kobito
Day 3) sapporo to otaru and back to sapporo
Day 4) sapporo to asahikawa and back to sapporo
Day 5) free shuttle from sapporo to rusutsu
Days 6-7) rusutsu

Or should we get single trip tickets?

Hi there,

I checked your itinerary and would purchase normal tickets for your travel. The only route which is a bit expansive is Sappro - Asahikawa. However this is not high enough for a JR (Hokkaido) Pass.

Could I check what is the approximate amount that I will spend on single tickets? If we need to take the bus to some of the places, how much would the average fare be? Is there also a way for me to check how much the single ticket will cost us?

It is easy to look up fares online using www.hyperdia.com

Here you can find a lot of interesting route information.

We also have a great blog post with all the details to get you started.

Buses in general are harder to find online and it is not always possible to look up the fare on the internet.
