We schedule to visit Kansai area in mid April next year . We scheduled to arrive in Narita airport on 4/16 and leave on 4/23. How should we purchase 8 days pass and how much will cost us with one day extra of 7 days pass?
our tentative schedule as follows:
4/16 arrive in Narita airport . leave for Osaka . From Osaka to visit Kansai area
4/23 leave from Osaka to Narita airport and leave Japan for USA

Hello Seki,
The JR Pass is sold in periods of 7, 14, 21 days. It is not possible to purchase an extra day.
So the key to using the JR Pass as good as possible is planning. Travel between Kansai and Narita Airport/Tokyo is by far the most expensive part and my advice is to try and fit this in the 7 day window of the JR Pass. If this is not possible, then I would advise buying normal tickets as you travel.
