I am planning my itinerary and plan to go to Masumoto and then Takayama (doing the Magome - Tsumago hike on the way). I was wondering if it is better to go to the Okuhida region from Matsumoto or Takayama.

Hello Heather,
There are access options from both sides but I think using a bus from Takayama would be easier.
