Hi,
I am a bit confused after trying the Calculator.
Would it make sense to buy the 7 day JR Pass (4 adults):

  1. december Sapporo to Kyoto
  2. december Kyoto to Tokyo

The calculator says 37000 yen for individuals. Could that bee about right?

And could it maybe make sense anyway, because we can use JR pass to certain local trains/buses in both Tokyo and Kyoto?

Hi Henriette,

A one way Sapporo to Kyoto would cost ¥ 37,310 and a one way Kyoto to Tokyo is ¥ 14,170 for a total of ¥ 51,480. That's already more than the cost of a 7-day pass, so with local travel added in, it would be totally worth it!

Having said that, the route Sapporo to Kyoto is a long train ride. You may want to add in a break along the way.
