Hi, I'll be in Japan for 11 days in Dec. Arriving at Narita -> Osaka -> Kyoto -> Yuzawa -> Tokyo -> Narita.

I assume JR Pass will be my best bet but can anyone please advise if I should get the 14 day one over the 7 day one?

Also, should I get the green car (first class) over the ordinary one?

Any advise on my travel plan as well?

Thank you in advanced!

Hi there,

I'd advise the 7 day JR Pass if you can make the trip Narita -> Osaka -> Kyoto -> Yuzawa -> Tokyo within 7 days, as this would by far be the most economic option.

Most people are fine in ordinary class, which is better than 1st class in many other countries. Still if you want to go for Green Class, then it's money well spend. It's especially nice since it's much more quiet and offers a bit more space.

Hope this helps!
Daniel

Thanks Daniel-San. Lucky for me, my planned is works as the way you suggested. But is it more economical for me to spend on single trips on my last few days in Tokyo + taking the train back to Narita on my last day?

Thanks again!

Hi again!

Returning to Narita Airport using the Narita Express will cost about 3,000yen. Depending on how much travel you do within Tokyo it could be worth it or not. I think that the difference will be small in any event, so don't worry too much about it. I could see the JR Pass being more convenient in Tokyo as you don't have to buy tickets each time you travel.

Hope this helps too!
Daniel
