Hi, I'm arriving at Haneda airport on March 8 and is heading to Kyoto on the same day. Should I get the 7 day JR pass?

1) How long does it take from Haneda to Kyoto via the JR pass? (is it the same as bullet train? sorry for this question)
2) When I'm back at Tokyo can I still use the JR pass to get from places?
3) At Kyoto is there any pass I need to get (I read some where I need to get day passes)

Itinerary:
8 Mar: Arriving Kyoto via Haneda Airport (Need to get from Haneda airport to Kyoto)
10 Mar: Tokyo
13 Mar: Obihiro (JAL)

If the bullet train and JR trains are the same - can I simply get my tickets via: https://www.jrpass.com/

Hi there!

You can certainly use the JR Pass for travel to Kyoto from Haneda Airport. First you'd have to travel from Haneda to Tokyo station from where you can use the Bullet train to Kyoto. This entire route is covered by the JR Pass.

1.) The complete route takes about 220 minutes. You should reserve about an hour for travel from Haneda - Tokyo station. From Tokyo station it is an other 140-160 minutes by train to Kyoto.

2.) Yes you can use the JR Pass for local travel around Tokyo on the JR lines as well as for day trips around the capital.

3.) There are only a limited amount of trains around Kyoto. So and the JR Pass can be used on them. You can also be interested in buying a 500yen bus ticket from Kyoto. A single ride is 220 yen so it's easy to make savings.
