I have heard that starting in spring 2020 there will be a way to buy a JR railpass directly via a website.

I will be coming to Japan 26th of April.
Will this new service be available before then or will I need to order it the normal way?

Online sales will go live starting june this year. For the time being please order through the conventional way.
We will also be offering online bookings directly through jrpass.com starting summer.
