Better JR Pass or Shinkansen?

Good day!

if I have a plan as below:

Tokyo to Gala Yuzawa, then
Gala Yuzawa to Tokyo, then
Tokyo to Kyoto and Osaka, then
Osaka to Tokyo

which one is better, to use JR Pass or buy individual Shinkansen or are the any other options?

Hi there,

For your itinerary, purchasing your tickets individually will be a more cost-effective option compared to purchasing a JR Pass. I'd therefore recommend purchasing tickets individually if you're happy to do so.
