I'm planning a trip to Japan by the end of the year, and I was wondering if I could actiavate the pass by the 28th or 29th of december. I still havent bought it, but I was planning on doing it on thursday (september 28th).

Yes, this is possible. The condition is that you pass is issued on the 29th or 30th of September.
