7 or 14 day pass???

What is the best pass (7 or 14 day) for the itinerary below?
Not sure if pass covers train system within Tokyo or not.
Does the pass end on the exact time it was activated (Eg 8am etc)?
If 14 day pass is better option should it start on our arrival day and end day before departure from Osaka?
Day 1 - Arrive Haneda, staying at hotel in Shinjuku
Day 2 - Harajuku and Shibuya (start 14day pass on this day)
Day 3 - Asakusa and Akibahara
Day 4 & 5 - Disneyland and Disney Sea
Day 6 - Day trip to Nikko (start 7 day pass on this day)
Day 7 - Day trip tp Mt Fuji/Hakone
Day 8 - Tokyo to Kyoto
Day 9 - Day trip to Hiroshima/Miyajima
Day 10 - Kyoto
Day 11 - Day trip tp Nara
Day 12 - Kyoto to Osaka (end 7 day pass)
Day 13 - Osaka
Day 14 - Osaka
Day 15 - Depart - flight from Osaka (end of 14 day pass)

Hi there,

The JR Pass is counted in days (not hours) and the first day is counted as a full day (no matter what time you start using it).

Travel from Haneda - Shinjuku is not far and using normal tickets will work fine. In terms of a Japan Rail Pass, I'd use a 7-day JR Pass from day 6-day 12 to get the best possible savings. Your other travel is local only within Tokyo and Osaka and does not cost much.
