Hello there,

Considering the full itinerary, I would recommend a 7 day JR Pass for Day 9 - 15. This allows you the cover the otherwise expansive travel from Tokyo - Kyoto and back, in addition to Nara and Himeji.

If you really want to get the best use out of the JR Pass, consider visiting Nikko on day 15 as well. This will add more travel on this day but the savings might be worth it to you. You could take an early train from Osaka, travel to Toykyo station and leave your luggage there, then make a visit to Nikko, or stay the night there.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel.
I cant go to Nikko on day 15 as I have appointments in week 3.

So just to be sure, it's no use to buy a 7 day pass for week 1 including nikko and other daytrips from tokyo?
Is it cheaper to buy seperate tickets for daytrips?

Hi again,

No the day trips alone do not amount to the cost for a 14 day JR Pass, although the difference is not that much. There are also budget tickets available to Nikko.

Even so, a 7 day JR Pass for day 9-15 will help you make good savings.

Hope this helps,
Daniel
