I am currently in Japan with a group of friends and one of them lost there JR Pass on 10/15. Are they able to use the a regional pass instead? The JR Pass will be active from 10/16 to 10/22 and we fly out on 10/25. We also already checked the JR ticket offices to see if his pass may have been turned in with no luck.

Yes, they could use a regional pass but it is likely that they are unable to purchase one in Japan depending on whether the exchange order needs to be physically mailed to you - we may be able to mail the exchange order to your accommodation in Japan, however - please contact our support team at [email protected] to see if this can be done and for more information on this.
