Hi, we are coming to Japan in July - August with my Students who are attending Suzuki Summer school in Matsumoto my husband and I will be traveling before hand so not quite sure to what is the best way to buy train travel that also is cost effective.
We arrive:
6am Haneda airport on the 18th July
Kobe: 18/7 - 2 nights
Nara : 21/7 -3 nights
Osaka 23/7 - 2 nights
Tokyo 25/7 - 2 nights
Matsumoto - 27/7 9 nights
Fly out from Haneda 4/8

Hello Nicole,

For this itinerary, I recommend buying normal ticket for this route. Giving the timing, a JR Pass would not help you make savings.
