my friend and i planning to travle to japn on 10 jan 2014, probably would like to spend 10 days in japan. wondering how should be plan the trip.
tokyo to hokkaida
or
hokkaida to tokyo
any suggestion and the traveling fee?
and we have not book the flight also.

If you are planning to travel to Hokkaido definitely get a JR Pass, a one way trip Tokyo - Sapporo ¥ 23,570 which is close to the price of a 7 day JR Pass (¥ 28,300).
You can reserve seats with the JR Pass free of charge and recommended but it is generally not needed as most train have enough non reserved seats.
