We will be going around tokyo and we have booked a tour for MT Fuji with the inclusion of shinkansen. The next day we will be having a day tour around tokyo area. Do we need to buy JR Pass? OR is there any card that we can to go around tokyo? Or is it better for us to buy Suica Card, do we need it?

Hi there,

I would not recommend buying a JR Pass if you just stay in and around Tokyo.
A Suica card can be very handy if you plan on using different kinds of transport within the metropolis of Tokyo, as it can be used with every company. Do note that Suica is just a method of payment and does not provide any special discounts.

A great way to travel around in Tokyo is to make use of the Tokyo 1 day Metro Ticket. It costs 710 yen and allows for unlimited travel on the Metro network for a full day.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

Hi Again,

You can buy the metro pass at any ticket machine in the Tokyo Metro.

There is also a special metro day pass for foreign visitors available that is even discounted further but it is only available on the Airport.

All metro and train tickets for children (under 12) in Japan are half price, this also applies to special tickets like the one day metro pass.

Enjoy the ride!
