Hi all,

I would like to check if there is a JR pass that i can use for this itinerary as below:-

16th Feb - Arrive KIX 9.40pm
16th Feb - Travel from KIX to Kyoto Station
17th Feb - Explore Kyoto city and attraction
18th Feb - Nara Day Trip and back to Kyoto (use JR pass)
19th Feb - Kyoto to Takayama (use JR pass)
20th Feb - Explore Takayama and Shiragawa go
21th Feb - Travel from Takayama to Osaka Station (use JR pass)
22th Feb - Explore Osaka (possible to use JR pass in Osaka?)
23th Feb - Travel from Osaka to KIX

Is it possible to use JR Pass to travel on the 18th / 19th / 21th ? What would be the best option?
Does JR pass cover for buses too?

Hi there,

The JR Pass covers the route to Takayama but not the bus to Shirakawa-go. Looking at travel cost, your itinerary is just below the cost of a 7 day JR Pass and for now you would also be fine buying normal tickets.

As an alternative you can look at the Takayama Hokuriku Area Pass. It would mean traveling via Kanazawa to Shirakawa-go and Takayama but is more economic.
