Hi there,

I looked at ticket prices to see if a JR Pass would be beneficial for you and think that you could make some great savings with a 7 day JR Pass. Here is a little break down of ticket prices. I used days 7-13 as travel days, because you plan to do most major travel in this period.

Kyoto - Okayama ¥ 7,530
Okayama - Hiroshima ¥ 6,060
Hiroshima Miyajima return 1,040
Hiroshima --> Kyoto ¥ 10,990
Kyoto - Takayama ¥ 9,980
Matsumoto - Tokyo ¥ 10,150
Tokyo - Kamakura ¥ 890
Kamakura - Yokohama ¥ 330
Yokohama - Tokyo ¥ 450

This adds up to ¥ 38420 the 7 Day JR Pass is ¥ 28,300 so you would save at least ¥ 10,120. I would recommand moving your day trip to Nikko to day 11 or 12 this way you can also use the JR Pass to travel there, which will save you an other ¥ 11,260 over normal JR ticket prices!

When you arrive I would recommend buying Haruka + ICOCA travel package from JR. This gives you a nicely discounted ticket to Kyoto on the Haruka express and also comes with a very convenient travel card that you can use to pay for the rest of your travel around Kyoto, Osaka and Tokyo.
