Will the JR Pass cover the train from Haneda airport to the Shibuya Crossing station? Or do we need a regional or Tokyo metro ticket?

Hi there,
The JR Pass covers the Tokyo Monorail from Haneda Airport to Hamamatsucho Station, where you can transfer to the covered JR Yamanote Line to reach Shibuya Station.

Thank you! Also, when purchasing the JR Pass, it asks for an activation date. Can it be activated a day earlier or later than the date I put in at purchase?

You are welcome!
The JR Pass is valid for "exchange" in Japan for 3 months from the issue date. This means you can activate your pass at any time within this 3-month period.
