Hi,
We need advise on the following itinerary:

15 Dec Thur Arrive Nagoya, Train to Osaka
16 Dec Fri Universal Studio, stay in Osaka
17 Dec Sat Takayama (Trip), Stay in Takayama
18 Dec Sun Shirakawa go (Trip) - Stay in Osaka
19 Dec Mon Kyoto
20 Dec Tue Kobe/Tokyo
21 Dec Wed Tokyo - Nagano (Snow Monkey Day Trip)
22 Dec Thur Tokyo - Gala Yuzawa Day Trip?
23 Dec Fri Tokyo
24 Dec Sat Tokyo
25 Dec Sun Tokyo
26 Dec Mon Tokyo
27 Dec Tues Tokyo
28 Dec Wed Depart from Narita

Should we get 7 days or 14 days pass? We might consider to go to Hokkaido for 3-4 days.

Hello there,

You are on the right track to making savings with a JR Pass. I would decide on whether you will go to Hokkaido. This would be the biggest part of the trip. Both in travel time and in how useful the JR Pass will be for you.

I definitely do recommend a JR Pass if you plan to go up to Hokkaido.

You can use the JR Pass Fare Calculator to find an approximate ticket cost of a single route or even your full itinerary.

We will not go to Hokkaido this time.
14 days pass give us more flexibilty.
