Bringing my granddaughter to her dream place of Japan for her 21st! Here is our dilemma:
We are staying in Tokyo for our whole trip. On April 2nd, Tuesday, we will take a day trip in the morning to Kyoto and return in the evening to Tokyo.
On April 4, Thursday, we will take a day trip in the morning to Osaka and return in the evening to Tokyo.
Do we purchase separate tickets or the JR Pass for 50,000?

Since you'll be using the Shinkansen bullet train lines several times, it would be cheaper to purchase a JR Pass than to buy your tickets individually. According to our JR Fare Calculator, it seems you'll be saving approximately 8000 YEN (this may vary so please look into the train prices if you want to know the exact amount!).
