Which Pass for Kansai

Hi there,

A JR Kansai Pass could be helpful for your travel, as travel from Kyoto - Kansai Airport and Kyoto - Himeji are otherwise costly parts. So I would at least buy a pass for those to days.

Within Kyoto there are only limited trains and buses are the way to travel around.

For travel within Kyoto look at a 500yen bus pass.

can I buy the pass at Kansai . As to have one delivered to Australia is $ 17. Otherwise I was thinking of using the Kansai airport rapid service and the JR Special rapid service to get to Kyoto. Cheers Ed

The JR Kansai Pass can be purchased within kansai.
The best way from Kansai Airport - Kyoto is to use the Haruka Express. This is also covered by the JR Pass.

Is it easy to buy the Pass at the airport . Are there many outlets . Last time I bought one it took some time and involved passports etc

It can take some time, since there is one ticket office at Kansai Airport (with multiple attendants). It really depends on how many other passengers there are :(
