Rail pass for tokyo??

There is no rail pass just for Tokyo but several discount tickets are available.

The 710Yen metro ticket is a very good option!

Thank you for your reply. here is another question. Because ill be going to hakuba and returning to tokyo and then to Mt Fuji, i was thinking the JR east pass would be great for me but i wasnt sure if i should just get the 4 day pass or longer. Problem is, can the JR east pass also be used around Tokyo itself? i understand from my reading that there are multiple train lines. Just not sure which one pass is all encompassing for tokyo itself. In the JR east website it says "

Unlimited travel on local, limited express and express trains including Shinkansens on the following rail company lines:

JR East Lines
Sendai Airport Transit
Tokyo Monorail
Izu Kyuko Line
Hokuetsu Kyuko Railway Hokuhoku Line
Aoimori Railway
IGR Iwate Galaxy Railway

But what does it mean in the context of tokyo itself?? are there only some stations in tokyo that i can use the pass on and for other stations, would i need the metro card??

Yes I can confirm that JR-Lines in Tokyo are covered by the JR-East pass as well as by the JR-Pass.

Please note that other kinds of transport in Tokyo including the metro and bus are not covered by the JR-East pass.

PS: For the Metro you can buy single tickets or buy an IC card like Suica so you won't have to buy tickets every time.
