exchanging jr rail pass

Do I have to start day 1 of my travel using the jr rail pass on the same day I turn in my exchange order or can I exchange it in advance?
We will be starting our trip from narita airport going into tokyo but departing from Osaka from kansai airport. Should we buy the n'ex airport + Suica card or is it cheaper to buy tickets separately? What will be the best way and rate to get to and from the Airports?

Hi there,

You can start using the JR Pass on any day you like. This does not have the be the first day you arrive in Japan. I do recommend using your JR Pass to use to Narita Express or buy a normal tickets. As there is only a discount ticket available specifically for the Narita Express if you make a return.

In Osaka you can use the JR rapid service to Kansai Airport, this is the best way when it comes to price/speed.
